Wise Words

John Fisher, my microbiology professor, is a good man, speaking wise words:
"HIV. Here is an infection that often is the result of bad choices, and I made plenty in my day, and I'm sure Ive got good company in this room. And some bad choices have made patients pick up HIV infection. And maybe perhaps the kind of lifestyle that some people choose is not your choosing, or something anathema to you. And then a patient comes in with this infection. You know, I hope there's not many physicians that say, 'well, they got what they deserve.' Because we don't care how patients got sick, they're just sick, and it doesn't matter how they got there.
And HIV shouldn't be a stigma to anybody, it's just about what kind of a doctor are you? can you take care of sick people?
